Breath of Fire Progressive Sequence
Breath of Fire Retentions
This is a short section from a longer Self Expansion Practice called “Practice to Align to the Heart.” In the full set, we start with journaling to uncover what your heart is actually asking for—and then we do this breathwork sequence to bring the body on board.
It’s simple but powerful.
Three rounds of Breath of Fire, each one getting longer.
Round 1: 1 min Breath of Fire → 1 min hold → 1 min regular breath
Round 2: 90 sec Breath of Fire → 90 sec hold → 90 sec regular breath
Round 3: 2 min Breath of Fire → 2 min hold → 2 min regular breath
All done while holding Rudra Mudra, which activates the solar plexus and gives a little more strength to your intention.
What it does:
Breath of Fire clears stagnant energy, wakes up the nervous system, and builds focus.
Physiologically, it activates the diaphragm, massages internal organs, and increases oxygen delivery to the brain.
Mentally, it can reset your state pretty fast—especially if you’re feeling dull, stuck, or indecisive.
You might feel heat.
You might feel clarity.
You might feel resistance.
All good signs something is moving.
If you’re pregnant or in the first few days of your cycle, skip the breath of fire.
If you want the full Self Expansion Practice it came from (with the journaling, movement, and integration), you can find it inside SelfExpansion.app under Practice to Align to the Heart.
